PTFE is a fluoropolymer, in spite of being considered a thermoplastic material, PTFE requires specific machining techniques because of its chemical and physical characteristics. In Mask Seals, semi-finished products (tubes, rods, sheets, tape, etc.) are manufactured using modern machine tools (CNC lathes and milling machines) with controlled sintering cycles (extruders, presses, ovens).
a. TYPES
i. FILLED PTFE
PTFE can be modified with different fillers, such as glass fibre, graphite, ceramic and more, to enhance its already impressive capabilities in high-stress settings. This will significantly boost mechanical characteristics like compressive strength and thermal conductivity while also lessening the load’s influence on it. As a consequence, we can produce parts that can increase design and operational perfection (such as piston rings and guide shoes).
As per customer request, Mask Seals can develop and manufacture semi-finished and finished technical components in materials such as:
ii. PCTFE (Polychlorotrifluoroethylene Homopolymer)
As well as being used more frequently, particularly in cryogenics, it is accompanied by our commitment to the production of a wide range of semi-finished and finished products. In fact, the particular machining cycles needed to produce plates, rods, rings and sleeves require the use of specially designed and manufactured equipment and machinery.
iii. ETCHED PTFE
Our PTFE etching plant complies with the strictest environmental regulations. Once etched, our PTFE products are ready for bonding.
