Compressor Components Piston Rings and Guide Bearings
Compressor piston rings and bearing guides are largely made of PTFE compounds, replacing traditional materials such as cast iron, graphite, and stratified structured materials, for best performances to compressors.
Using PTFE compounds, piston rings and bearing guides, guarantee peak performance. This material has replaced the traditional like cast iron, graphite, and stratified structured materials due to its chemical inertness. While it is resistant to most gases and liquids, there are exceptions when it comes to elements like alkaline metals in the molten state, fluorides, fluoridric acid in the gaseous state and certain fluorocarbons at elevated temperatures and pressures.
In some cases, PTFE piston rings and guide bearings can be used at temperatures up to 260°C, but this temperature limit value should be adjusted based on the system pressure and piston speed. DuPontTMVespel®SP21 is also used to manufacture floating rings, piston rings, and guide bearings in order to increase wear resistance and increase working temperature limits. Mask Seals manufactures also components in natural and filled VICTREXTMPEEK for inlet and outlet valves.
